What is it?
It’s a yoga class, that has goats in it! Our friends over at Smiling Hill Farm set up a temporary pen for the goats (that way it’s not pre-pooped). Then we put a bunch of goats and a bunch of yogis in the pen. I teach yoga to the people, and we all laugh at the goats while they run around and do silly things. When we do downward dog pose, I will make a cheesy joke about calling it downward goat pose, but it will still be exactly the same thing.

Will the goats jump on me?
Maybe, probably, kinda depends on the day! The personality of the goats changes so much as they go from baby goats to “teenage” goats. In the beginning of the season they are more snuggly and less climb-y. Toward the end of the season they will jump on anything they can get their feet on! When it’s hot out they don’t move around quite so much, unless it is to find some shade under your plank pose.
But, is it like a normal yoga class?
Well, sort of yes and sort of no. I mean… do you have goats running around in your normal yoga classes?
It is an all-levels class, you can use a mat if you want to, yoga instruction is happening. So in that way, yes.
Additionally, you can take pictures, I encourage you to do yoga if you want to, or maybe just play with the goats if that is what makes you happy. I will periodically make jokes about people’s mats getting peed and pooped on. I will encourage you to enjoy the racket of the ducks and the geese in the barnyard, and if you are really worried about getting pee or poop on your feet, I will encourage you to practice with your shoes on. The yogis laugh, giggle, smile a lot, and sometimes even take a meditative stroll during class. So in that way, no, not really.

But really, why goat yoga?
Because baby goats are super cute! They are cuddly and do things that make people laugh. If yoga makes people happy and baby animals make people happy then why not put ’em together! I like seeing people smile and laugh and goat yoga is a sure bet on that front!
What happens if it rains?
Public goat yoga classes are a rain or shine extravaganza, if the weather is really yucky we move them into the barn. Private classes have a little more wiggle room. We can talk about it more if you’re concerned.
Will I get peed or pooped on?
Likely not. It is unlikely that a goat will actually pee or poop on your person. There is a decent likelihood that a goat may pee or poop on your mat… Don’t worry, it washes off really easily and I usually plenty of mats to borrow if you feel squeamish about it.

Can I bring my child?
Is your child older than 12?
YES >>> sign that kid up!
NO >>> consider booking a private class or checking out the goat snuggling offered by smiling hill farm.
I’m In! How do I sign up?
Check in with the main goat yoga page for the most up to date info on how to sign up for class.
Look forward to seeing you there!
