Ashley’s Guide to Portland: Yoga, Nature & Good Vibes

Ashley Flowers Yoga wouldn’t be what it is without an incredible community of businesses, organizations, and humans who help make these unique yoga experiences possible. If you’re local—or visiting Portland, Maine—these are some of my favorite places and local businesses to explore, move, eat, and connect.

Farms & Animals

  • Smiling Hill Farm — Go have some ice cream, wander the barnyard, and soak in a true slice of Maine history (est. 1720). Or maybe come for goat yoga 😉
  • Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals — Worth a visit whether you’re joining for horse yoga or just want to wander around and connect with a horse. And while you are over that way check out 👇
  • Orchard Ridge Farm — This is such a fun place to visit! Eat, pick some fruit, say hi to some of their farm animals, and maybe check out a Farm-to-Table yoga class! If you are going with kiddos they also have a great little playground!
  • Impact Horse — If you want to see a real-life Lil’ Sebastian lookalike, see if you can catch mini horse Toast at the farmers market or one of the other lovely events they offer! Or keep an eye out for a mini-horse yoga class!

Outdoor Adventures

  • Portland Paddle — Join me for SUP yoga or hop on one of the daily Fort Gorges tours to get out on the water and enjoy the beauty of Casco Bay!
  • Maine Outdoor Brands — If you need some inspiration on what to get up to while you are in Portland, MOB has some great inspiration on high-quality gear and expert guide services across the state.

Local Shops & Experiences

  • Toad&Co — An amazing spot to check out local brands, sustainable threads, and a Yoga for Good class!
  • Everchanging Seasons — This place is a real hidden gem and one of my favorite places to send people after a Saturday morning yoga class! If you’re looking for a truly satisfying, thrift store style treasure hunt, this is the place to go!

People & Community

  • Emily’s Oysters — Emily is a long-time friend and student who has been an incredible support over the years (and sells the tastiest oysters Maine has to offer—I’m not just saying that because she’s my friend). Go say hi to her at the Saturday Portland Farmers Market and grab a dozen oysters!
  • Visit Portland — One of the best resources for finding things to do in Portland. Their event calendar is always worth a look!

Hope you enjoy exploring the great wide expanse of Southern Maine—maybe I’ll see you out there!
