Happy Yoga Month!
This month is intended to be a time when you check in with yourself and your relationship to yoga. This is a great time to reinvigorate and reconnect with your yoga practice!
Over here at Ashley Flowers Yoga, every month is yoga month! Nevertheless, I’m making a special effort this year to check in with my personal and teaching practices and really see what is working for me and what isn’t.
Maybe you’d like to join me in reconnecting with your yoga practice this month!
3 Ways to Celebrate National Yoga Month
- Check in with your yoga hopes and dreams
What does yoga mean to you? Is your practice working for you? Is there anything you could improve to make your experience of yoga even more joyful?
For me yoga is all about connection, to the earth, to other people, to myself! I’m thinking about ways to refine and expand my methods of connecting. I’m signed up for some classes with teachers I’ve never practiced with before and I am setting my teaching schedule with a keen eye to leaving time to connect with friends and family.
- Evaluate what you know, and what you don’t
Which aspects of yoga speak to you most? Asana, meditation, pranayama… Consider finding a book or a workshop where you could expand your knowledge on the things you already know and love or maybe delve into a new aspect of yoga you haven’t explored yet.
The ocean of knowledge around yoga is deep and vast. I love learning, so I am looking into some new teacher trainings and I just bought a book about yoga for pain management that I am really enjoying. I know that I show up as my best self personally and professionally when I am actively engaged in learning!
- Recommit to showing up for your practice

Do you practice as often as you would like to? Do you have a home practice that fills you up on days when you don’t attend a class? Is there a complementary practice you could add in that would bring more balance to your life?
I often skip my personal practice, because I don’t want to move more after teaching 2, 3, or even 4 classes a day. As we all know, yoga is about much more than just asana though, so I am recommitting to incorporating mantra, meditation, and pranayama back into my daily routine. I am also considering adding some rucking
into my weekly routine to keep me fit and ready to roll for all my outdoor adventures and so me and my honey can spend time staying healthy together!
Whatever you do to celebrate yoga, this month, next month, or the month after that…know that I am here and I would love to celebrate yoga with you!
